Submission of Papers

OVERVIEW
  • Authors should submit FULL-LENGTH, original, unpublished papers. Preferred format is single-column double-spaced -- in this format, length should be 10 to 18 pages, plus figures.
  • To permit a blind review, do not include name(s) or affiliation(s) of the author(s) on the manuscript; this information is entered separately in our on-line paper submittal system.
  • You will enter a 300-word text abstract of your paper's premise, methodology, and conclusions.
  • Submit your papers using the on-line paper submission procedure on the ITMC submittal web site, using the START Conference Manager system. Please check the as-printed appearance of your paper before submitting it.
  • Papers may be submitted as .doc, .docx, or .pdf files. If you submit a .ps file, we will convert it internally to .pdf.
  • If a paper is accepted, an author/presenter must register and attend the conference to present the paper. (Papers that are not presented will not go into IEEE Xplore.) Each author/presentor is limited to two accepted papers, or the presentation of two papers.

STEPS for Submission
  1. Visit www.softconf.com/b/itmc2011 and select "Click HERE to make a new submission". Note that your browser must have Javascript enabled in order to use the paper submission system.
  2. Enter the title for your paper, along with information for all the authors.
  3. Create your profile. Only the eight fields marked with an asterisk are required. This information lets us stay in touch with you during our process.
  4. Enter a text version of an abstract (about 300 words) for your paper. This should briefly explain the premise of your paper, the methodology used, and a summary of conclusions. Note that superscripts/subscripts, Greek characters, etc, are not supported in title/abstract in our submission system; you may spell them out.
  5. Browse for the file that contains your manuscript. Remember not to include author name(s) and affiliation(s) in this file.
  6. Look within one (or more) major topical areas into which your proposed paper fits, and select any sub-categories that apply. This assists the program committee in selecting reviewers and properly placing your paper in a session.
  7. Click submit. You will receive an e-mail containing the passcode for this paper. This passcode is used later to access the system for submission of your final manuscript in March, 2011.

Manuscript Review Process

Submitted papers will undergo a rigorous review process handled by the Technical Program Committee. Since the accepted manuscripts will be published as an IEEE publication, each paper must meet minimum standards of quality. All submissions will be rated by the technical program committee based on the following standard criteria:
    • · Originality and significance of the work
    • · Quality of data/results and interpretation
    • · Completeness of the manuscript
    • · Non-commercial nature of the manuscript
    • · References to the work of others
    • · Literary quality (clarity in writing, organization, figures, tables, etc.)
Good use of technical/written English is expected. In cases where sentence structure, grammar, and understandability are not adequate, the technical program committee may require a strong copy-edit by you or your institution as a condition for acceptance of the final paper.
Following Acceptance
Following acceptance of your paper, you will be asked to reconcile the review comments and update your manuscript. At that point, you will put your paper into the IEEE double-column format; the guidelines for the final paper format are provided below (to be added). Use the on-line paper submission procedure by returning to www.softconf.com/b/itmc2011 and entering your passcode for this paper.

ITMC will be using the IEEE PDF eXpress distiller service to assist you in achieving the IEEE's format requirements. The final versions of all papers accepted for publication must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specifications. ITMC will also use the IEEE's eCopyright system, for filing the copyright release permissions. Further instructions will be provided once your paper is accepted. The final paper is expected to be between 5 and 8 pages in its final format, though some flexibility is permitted.

Notes about Paper Content, Indexing

    How does IEEE Copyright work?
-- IEEE will hold the copyright to your ITMC paper, and it will be placed in their Xplore system. You should not have already presented/published the SAME paper, copyrighted by another entity.
-- You cannot present the paper and then decline to place the paper in Xplore; we require an executed Copyright form, and we wish to place the paper in the IEEE's world-wide research database.
-- IEEE gives very liberal reprint rights to the author. However, the paper should be changed/updated/restructured before it is copyrighted by a future entity (including the IEEE).
-- If you want to REPRINT the paper in a magazine, compendium, etc, then you may ask the IEEE Copyrights Manager for permission, which is usually granted. The Magazine will be asked to add a footnote indicating that the material is copyrighted by the IEEE and is used with permission. There is usually no cost involved.

Where will ITMC papers be indexed?
-- Papers which are accepted and presented at the conference will be placed into IEEE's Xplore/IEL database and indexed in INSPEC, Elsevier’s Ei index, and ISI/Thomson Reuters' SCI, SSCI and ISTP services. In addition, the metadata and full text will be indexed by Google, Google Scholar, and Scitopia.
